The adaptation of the current energy system towards reducing the fossil fuel dependence and minimizing its impact on climate, environment and health remains the global challenge of today. New materials will contribute towards this goal, for instance by improving the energy efficiency of industrial production and reduction of household energy use (e.g., through fuel cells, catalysis, reduced friction losses), and by offering solutions to deal with waste and emissions.

Learn and contribute to the central question: “How will materials shape the supply and utilization of energy in the future?”

At the 2nd International Conference on Materials for Energy, May 12-16, 2013 in Karlsruhe, Germany, a multi-disciplinary group of international researchers and scholars will meet to discuss recent results and developments in all areas of materials for energy applications.

The conference programme covers current topics and recent progress in the science and technology of energy and new materials. All aspects of materials for energy production and conversion, energy storage, energy transport, and energy saving will be addressed. A total of five plenary lectures, 208 lectures and more than 220 posters will provide an excellent overview of recent developments in the above areas. The lecture programme will be complemented by two poster sessions, an industrial exhibition and a panel discussion.
