Abstract of EP0065415
A method for casting polymeric film and apparatus suitable for use in
the method are disclosed. In order to increase the rate of production
of polyester film in cases where such film is produced by extruding a
molten polymer onto the quenching surface of a rotating casting wheel,
the shell thickness (10) of the casting wheel (16) is reduced so that
the maximum permanent local shell deformation at the point where the
polymer first contacts the wheel surface does not exceed 0.002 inches
(0.051 mm) in the radial direction.
